History New-Empire was founded when Joshua Coales (Dr-Spangle) saw Danny Wallace's BBC television programme called "How to start your own country" where the presenter, Danny Wallace, set up the micronation of Lovely. (New-Empire was one of many nations to be set up as a result of that programme, some other examples are Jamzinia, Oscland, New Brittania, Nova England and Woodstania.) After seeing the television programme Josh talked to Ollie Hayman (Evilbenking) and soon New-Empire was formed. As soon as it was formed we went straight to the task of getting some territory. After watching QI a few days before Josh had learned about Cruithne which is often called a second moon of the earth We decided to claim it and after some research on the internet we found some more Territory to claim. Then after some more searching we managed to find the fax address of Tony Blair (who was the Prime minister at the time), the e-mail address of NASA and the address of the UN headquarters. Once we had these contacts we sent them each a message declairing our independance and our territorial claims stating that should they reply stating their disagreement within 6 months then New-Empire would cease to exist. 6 months later no reply had been received despite the ease it would have taken them, we took this as consent of the nation and New-Empire has carried on to this day.
