On the 9th of June, there was uproar in Nordenhejm as forces of armed men barged their way through the city, flying flags bearing the symbol of communism. People watched helplessly as the groups of men stormed the streets of Ryygan, killing anyone who got in their path. What started as a simple protest, outside Seherborg, turned into a blood bath as the police attempted to lightly break up the protest.
Miss Liilen was a survivor of the attack. “These hooligans must be stopped!” She yelled, “I won’t stop until I see these communist scum banned from our lands, once and for all!”. These words were on the lips of many as they saw the horror of what went on that previous day. Many were horrified that the police force was too powerless to do anything once the mob brought out their weaponry. Yet another protest was in effect on the 10th of June, as families of the victims supported the idea of punishment and scowled down at the police.
Sergeant Mikajl Filenis, head of the police section at the time, said to the crowd “my force did all they could to protect those that were in danger. We took immediate effect to try and stop this horror from proceeding further”. His words were greeted by hisses from the public viewing. When later questioned of the effectiveness of the police, he replied "The police were ordered to take action if the protest turned into a riot. As you can see from the damage, it turned into a full fledged riot. The police acted accordingly to minimize damage to the city and its inhabitants. As far as the cause of the protests and the terroristic attitude, I suspect foreign elements, considering the tight restrictions on the weapons they use."
King Nikolaus also showed at the second protests. When questioned how these attacks would be prevented in the future, he replied "With as little force as possible. People do have the right to assemble and express their views. However, if they continue to use terrorist tactics I will not have much choice but to use military force. When people become endangered, I myself have an obligation to maintain the security of this land and its people". He later gave a press statement on the suspect of this being a terrorist attack, "I do not see foreign governments being involved, but merely foreign arms trade, as so far none of their tactics used, nor their weapons are made in Livlandia".
