Fascists Win Elections in Ashkenatza

Ashkenatza's Knesset
The outcome of Ashkenatza’s highly anticipated June general elections, which were called after the nation’s former ruling communist government resigned, resulted in an unsurprising victory sweep for the nation’s controversial yet clearly popular Green Thunder Legion and Democratic Party coalition who won a majority 60% of votes with Askhenatza’s Bundists (or communists) and Zionists drawing for second both receiving 20% of votes.
The winning coalition is an alliance of two very contrasting parties; the Green Thunder Legion (a proudly fascist and militarist political party) and the leftist Ashkenatzi Democratic Party. The new government in an interesting first for the nation has announced that the paramilitary wing of the Green Thunder Legion will be taking over several units of the Ashkenatzi armed forces possibly giving the movement the power to take out political opponents a move which could very easily infringe the Republic’s young democracy. The party’s frequent political rallies en masse has demonstrated the environmentalist right wing movement’s keen philosophy of having Ashkenatzi Society function as a single ‘organism’ while curtailing freedoms so its society can function collectively and productively.
The election of the widely dubbed extremist coalition may serve further detriment to the Republic’s foreign affairs policy which in the past has prioritized unifying all so called ethnic Ashkenatzis on Benacia. Progress was made however in the longstanding dispute with Shireroth after the two states marked a new era of relations with a ball after a new diplomatic treaty was signed. With Ashkenatza’s newly elected Noshi (head of government) Szhmuel Astopov just announcing the new government earlier this month, it may be to soon to tell whether Ashkenatza is heading towards real change.
