Emergency act ends in Hamland

The emergency act was brought to an end in Hamland this  week meaning an end to the short term absolute monarchy.

The emergency act is brought into power when there is too low an activity level for a bill to be passed, as in Hamland a bill has to be seconded to be passed. The act is brought in once there has been no activity for two weeks and ends after the second post of a citizen who has returned.

The absolute monarchy lasted for 2 weeks and no new acts were passed during. The reason apparently for the inactivity was an issue with the website and so the government officials could not sign in for meetings.

This coincides with the next election due to be held on the 12th of September with only the HNP (supported by the King) standing. The King said “I want our country to show we are democratic and I want to have an election no matter how few people stand”. Some people have shown anger over the lack of choice on the ballot, but it has been defended by the fact there is a lack of interest in forming an opposition to the leftist party.
